About Me

Claire Perez began violin lessons when she was seven, and quickly fell in love with the instrument. She completed Certificate of Merit, played in Prelude String Orchestra, and participated in yearly festivals and recitals growing up. While in college, she performed in master classes coached by Stephen Rose, Phillip Levy, and Lina Bahn. She also participated in CSU Summer Arts in Fresno, Cleveland Institute of Music Violin Audition Intensive, and Borromeo Music Festival.  In 2019, Claire graduated from California State University, Northridge with a Bachelor’s in Violin Performance, where she studied with Lorenz Gamma. During her last year at CSUN, she began teaching private violin, viola and piano lessons.

She began working with Lauren Deutsch, who has mentored her as a teacher since 2021, and has helped her become a Suzuki certified teacher. She is a part of the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA) and the Music Teachers Association of California (MTAC), and currently holds certifications for Suzuki books 1-2.

Many of her students hold high seating placements in their school orchestras, and she has helped many others successfully audition into the CSUN Youth Orchestras and LAYO.

Outside of teaching, Claire also enjoys performing with the American Youth Symphony, Civic Orchestra of Los Angeles, and Santa Monica College Symphony Orchestra.
